SAFETY
THIS IS IMPORTANT. Basically it boils down to this: in the above text I have indicated the way to safely 'open' the Circle contact. What you will have done is open a Spirit door and IN SO DOING LEAVING YOURSELF OPEN TO ALL SORTS OF SPIRIT. THE GOOD, THE SAFE AND POWERFUL, ALSO THE BAD AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS.
That is why the disciplines and methods of establishing contact are so important. However, in asking and receiving the protection of your Spirit contacts you are protected and not prey to the many bad Souls looking to cause harm or danger. In other words, by following the procedures and respect the laws of Spirit you have made yourself virtually unreachable by bad Spirits.

CLOSING
As with opening the Circle, closing the Circle is also attended by procedure and courtesy. It is so important TO CLOSE THE OPEN DOOR YOU HAVE CREATED TO OUR SPIRIT FRIENDS. YOU GIVE THEM THANKS FOR THE CIRCLE AND ASK FOR THEIR PROTECTION UNTIL YOU MEET AGAIN. If you forget to close properly, guess what? You have left an open door for any sort of Spirit to walk through. Guidance on this is in the text used to close below.

PREY
To illustrate this I will draw you a little scenario which can happen.
A few people get together, they have, or make a alphabetical Circle. Let's say they correctly open the Circle and receive some messages. (The validity of those messages is questionable if they have not requested protection).
Lots of ooh's and gosh's. Excited chatter and talk erupts and they pack it away and maybe decide the next meeting.
But they have left the 'door' open.
From the point of view of the multitudes in the Spirit world, through all the fog like clag which is how they see us in the mortal world, there now exists something like a search light pushing through and prancing along minding its own business. That is you, or one of your sitters, blithely unaware that they have signalled themselves to bad spirits as mortal prey, perfect for ill-intended Spirits to attach themselves to you and mess with your mortal life. It happens so often, just because the person, or persons, don't know the procedures and disciplines. Just like the novice, untrained road user, mentioned earlier - they are in trouble. These are the poor people who turn up on the doorstep of the experienced and 'qualified' psychic who can try to help them and rid them of the problem. The problems can be complex and difficult.
I will give you one more example. This is in real life and quite strange.
