General chat across the table should be kept to a minimum. Discussion can be entered into after the Circle session is closed.
Some members are natural chatterers after receiving a contact which can disrupt the timing, other members then not having their due time of the one-hour session. The point of the Circle is to receive messages from above, not relive some members' memorable experience from long ago! Unbroken concentration by all members of the Circle will help keep a good contact and vibrations of the gathering.
THE PLANCHETTE WORKING
The planchette can have a 'mind of its own'! By this I mean that the Spirit Soul coming through might, for example, have liked dancing. In that case the planchette might reflect this by parading all over the board carrying the fingers of members gaily along with it.
One memorable instance for me was when a man who had been my mentor to me when I was first at work 65 years ago came through. He had never experienced anything like this in his life, largely due to his religious beliefs, he did not believe in such things. He was so excited he kept on spelling 'I am so excited I can talk to you' the planchette flew from letter to letter at a fantastic rate. He was a close friend to me and had passed away about four years previously. A wonderful contact.
CONFUSED SOULS
While in the session, If you ask the question 'do we know you?' to a contact there may be no real answer to your question. This sometimes indicates a confused Soul who has not, for some reason, passed through to the Spirit world as it should. You then ask 'Are you lost ?' You may get the answer spelt back 'I am frightened' or perhaps 'lost'. Your group can assist this Soul by asking if they can see any relatives who have previously passed, or if they can see some light. If the answer is yes, you then reassure the Soul and urge them to go to the relatives or the light and that they are safe. Usually after some urging to do this they satisfactorily pass through. We had one Soul which did this and came back on the board some sessions later to thank us.
WEAK CONTACT AND OTHER HAPPENINGS
If your planchette slows right down and is 'sluggish' it is a sign that the communication is weak. You could (hopefully not) have two members of the sitters busily chatting together, but much more likely it will be a bad connection (a poor vibration) existing between the circle and our friends above. Don't forget that they have to bring their vibrations DOWN to our level. If they meet resistance (probably on our side) it slows down the planchette. To repeat, to clear the blockage use a singing bowl over your table display. This adjusts and lifts the vibration level and usual service resumes!
One further thing re vibration. I suspect that a Circle with a percentage of sitters who are either relatively new to sitting might, in effect, dilute the ability of the Circle to create a good connection. I only say that as we have found the strength and quality of the visitors to the Circle has increased at each Circle. I believe this is due to those who joined and now accept the reality of Spirit contact, this would build their psychic strength, also their mental attitude is much more accepting and helpful to Spirit.
As a result we have built up an astounding and often surprising quality in our sittings.
RESCUE CIRCLES
As mentioned before, it can be that some Souls, upon passing over, are in effect 'Earthbound' for some reason. This means that they have a cause to try to linger on the pathway to the Spirit world. They might be confused or frightened. They might still be too attracted to their Earth life and don't want to move on. It does not necessarily mean that they are harmful. Clearly it is a case of us trying to assist them 'over' as outlined above.
There are 'Rescue Circles' at which experienced psychics specialise in helping such lost Souls through safely to their Spirit home. The rescue situation is the whole reason for them to sit. Sometimes a Soul does not want to go forward due to something which they might have done in their mortal life and now fear the consequences. These Souls can be problematic and need specialist handling by experienced psychics.
So the Circle concentrates on helping such Souls.
