THIS IS THE PROCEDURE AND WORDING WE USE TO OPEN OUR CIRCLE AND THE OPENING AND CLOSING STATEMENTS MADE TO OUR SPIRIT FRIENDS

1. We are all seated.
2. We link hands together which creates a circle.
3. This is the quiet moment when we say and do nothing. We all quieten our minds, ready to open the Circle and start the communication. This quiet session might last a minute or so.
4. One member then reads out our healing prayer for all those who suffer. If your Circle runs a Healing list of those known to require healing or have asked to be included in this healing session, they are named. The wording we use is:
5. IN THIS QUIET MOMENT, BEFORE WE LINK WITH OUR LOVED ONES IN SPIRIT, WE JOIN TOGETHER TO SEND HEALING THOUGHTS TO ALL THOSE WHO SUFFER. THOSE INDIVIDUALLY KNOWN TO US, AND ALL OTHERS WHO HAVE SUFFERING IN THEIR LIVES. OUR HEALING THOUGHTS ENCOMPASS ALL CREATURES THAT ARE THE CREATION OF THE GREAT SPIRIT. AMEN. This enables all sitters to send healing personally if they need to, and all others. It is a good start to raise the vibration of the group and to start opening the Circle.
6. Then comes the Opening request and the invitation to Spirit to join with us:
7. I WOULD LIKE TO OPEN THIS CIRCLE, AND FOR THE NEXT HOUR WELCOME OUR FRIENDS IN SPIRIT WHO COME WITH THEIR LOVE AND LIGHT.
WE ASK THAT YOU PUT AROUND THIS CIRCLE A RING OF PROTECTION THAT WE MIGHT CONVERSE WITH YOU FREELY AND SAFELY. This has covered one of the really important points, asking for their protection.
7. Then we continue in the same statement: WE THANK THE GREAT SPIRIT FOR ENABLING THOSE ON THE ASTRAL PLANES TO BRING THEIR MESSAGES TO US WHICH ARE SO UPLIFTING AND COMFORTING. IN THE QUIETNESS OF THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING WE WELCOME THOSE WHO JOIN WITH US IN THIS COMMUNION OF SOULS. It then continues to conclude the welcome:
8. WE HAVE GATHERED HERE IN THE SPIRIT OF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP TO CREATE A GOOD CIRCLE WHICH WE LEAVE IN YOUR DIVINE HANDS.
With these simple words we have acknowledged the Spirit World and those waiting to contact us. We have asked for the protection we need and set the evening for a good contact. The Circle THEN proceeds with all sitters putting a finger on the planchette which normally will start 'working'.

At the end of the hour we come to the important piece which closes the Circle, ensuring your safety and requests protection for all until the next meeting.
Without a proper closure all of the sitters are open to intrusion by bad spirits.

1. WE CLOSE THIS CIRCLE WITH THANKS TO THE GREAT SPIRIT AND TO ALL OF THOSE WHO COMMUNICATED WITH US TONIGHT/THIS AFTERNOON ON THIS BOARD.
WE GIVE PARTICULAR THANKS TO THOSE OF OUR SPIRIT FRIENDS WHO GATHERED TO JOIN US WITH THEIR MESSAGES OF LOVE AND GUIDANCE. AS EVER IT HAS ENRICHED OUR EARTHLY LIVES AND ILLUSTRATED THE CLOSENESS OF THE WORLD OF SPIRIT TO WHICH WE WILL ALL RETURN.
WE ASK THAT YOU PUT AROUND EACH ONE OF US, OUR FAMILIES AND OUR HOMES, A CLOAK OF PROTECTION SO THAT WE MAY GATHER SAFELY HERE AGAIN FOR OUR MEETING OF SOULS.

MAY THE GREAT SPIRIT BE WITH EVERY ONE OF YOU AND HELP YOU IN YOUR ETERNAL QUEST FOR SPIRITUAL ADVANCEMENT. Amen.

This closure statement is precise, gives the honour due to those in Spirit who joined in and made the contact possible. It also of course asked for the protection of the sitters in their earthly activities. The Circle is then closed.
